Anna Pottie is a mixed-media collage artist based in Alberta, Canada creating narrative-driven work that explores society, culture and the human experience.
Using secondhand materials (magazines, books, craft supplies, and other found objects) she builds layered compositions that are deeply personal and emotionally resonant. By incorporating glitter, gems, and glow-in-the-dark paint, her work embraces contrast and invites viewers to consider the complexities and contradictions of being human.
A self-taught artist who was creative since childhood, Anna began experimenting with collage as a teenager. Over the years, her practice has evolved from a personal hobby into a dedicated exploration of narrative and material. Continuously experimenting with new techniques and mediums, she views her work as an ongoing conversation; a way to make sense of the world, and leave space for viewers to discover their own stories within the layers.
Anna’s collage poetry has been published in Northword Literary Magazine. Her artwork has been featured on the cover of the Arts Council of Wood Buffalo’s 2024 Annual Report and exhibited locally, including the Collective Threads exhibition at the Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery in 2025.
Artist Statement
My collages are built from what’s been left behind — torn pages, forgotten images, fragments of meaning. In layering these pieces together, I explore the spaces between belonging and isolation, hope and disillusionment, and the strange contradictions of being alive
